b\u00e2timents poussent comme des champignons, le patrimoine industriel restant est r\u00e9nov\u00e9 pour retrouver sa gloire d&#8217;antan. Apr\u00e8s le b\u00e2timent principal (Thor Central), le b\u00e2timent d&#8217;extraction,<\/em><span><a href=\"https:\/\/renotec.be\/fr\/reference\/thorpark\/\"><em> le b\u00e2timent de ventilation et la passerelle)<\/em><\/a><\/span><em>, c&#8217;est d\u00e9sormais au tour de l&#8217;iconique chevalement. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la r\u00e9paration manuelle du b\u00e9ton et \u00e0 des mesures efficaces de protection contre la corrosion, cet imposant vestige du pass\u00e9 minier est en train d&#8217;\u00eatre pr\u00e9par\u00e9 pour une seconde vie en tant qu&#8217;espace d&#8217;exposition, de r\u00e9ception et aire de pique-nique. \u00a0<\/em>\n<h2><strong>D&#8217;une mine de charbon \u00e0 un espace d&#8217;exposition<\/strong><\/h2>\nLa mine de charbon de Waterschei \u00e9tait l&#8217;un des sept charbonnages du c\u00e9l\u00e8bre \u00ab bassin houiller de Campine\u00a0\u00bb. De 1907 \u00e0 1987, ce site de plus de 100 hectares a abrit\u00e9 une activit\u00e9 mini\u00e8re intensive. Par la suite, le site a connu le m\u00eame sort que les autres anciennes mines de la r\u00e9gion : vacance et d\u00e9labrement. Heureusement, son caract\u00e8re unique n&#8217;a jamais \u00e9t\u00e9 compl\u00e8tement perdu de vue. Depuis 1993, le site est class\u00e9. Dans le cadre du prestigieux projet Thor, les monuments miniers restants sont en cours de r\u00e9novation compl\u00e8te. Certains seront m\u00eame r\u00e9affect\u00e9s. Notamment l&#8217;impressionnant b\u00e2timent du chevalement. Il sera utilis\u00e9 non seulement comme un abri pour v\u00e9los et une aire de pique-nique accessibles au public (au rez-de-chauss\u00e9e), mais aussi comme un espace d&#8217;exposition et de r\u00e9ception unique. La passerelle de 9 m\u00e8tres de haut relie le b\u00e2timent du chevalement au b\u00e2timent principal.\n<h2><strong>Une v\u00e9ritable attraction<\/strong><\/h2>\nVu sa taille, le b\u00e2timent du chevalement est l&#8217;un des points d&#8217;attraction de l&#8217;ancien site minier. Le squelette rigide en b\u00e9ton et les grandes fen\u00eatres donnent au volume un aspect brut qui doit \u00eatre conserv\u00e9 apr\u00e8s les travaux. C&#8217;est pourquoi, outre la restauration et la r\u00e9novation, le donneur d&#8217;ordre a aussi opt\u00e9 pour la conservation. Ce n&#8217;est pas un luxe, car la structure en b\u00e9ton arm\u00e9 \u00e9tait en assez mauvais \u00e9tat. \u00ab\u00a0Au cours de notre \u00e9tude pr\u00e9liminaire approfondie, nous avons constat\u00e9 qu&#8217;il fallait proc\u00e9der \u00e0 une importante r\u00e9novation du b\u00e9ton\u00a0\u00bb, explique Jan Kriekemans, chef de projet chez Renotec. \u00ab\u00a0La r\u00e9novation du b\u00e2timent du chevalement a donc consist\u00e9 \u00e0 r\u00e9parer environ 80\u00a0% du b\u00e9ton, de fa\u00e7on manuelle la plupart du temps.\n<h2><strong>200 tonnes de mortier pour la r\u00e9paration du b\u00e9ton<\/strong><\/h2>\nEn tout, nous aurons besoin de presque 200 tonnes de mortier de r\u00e9paration pour venir \u00e0 bout de tous les d\u00e9fauts structurels. Ce n&#8217;est pas rien. Comme nous n&#8217;avons eu qu&#8217;un an pour r\u00e9nover le b\u00e2timent du chevalement, c&#8217;est un projet qui n\u00e9cessite beaucoup de main-d&#8217;\u0153uvre. Nous sommes environ 25 \u00e0 travailler en permanence sur le site et nous avons un calendrier tr\u00e8s strict.\u00a0\u00bb\n<h2><strong>Une protection cathodique<\/strong><\/h2>\nPour prot\u00e9ger l&#8217;enveloppe ext\u00e9rieure du b\u00e2timent du chevalement contre les intemp\u00e9ries, le vent et la corrosion, elle a non seulement \u00e9t\u00e9 rev\u00eatue d&#8217;un micro-mortier fin, mais a aussi re\u00e7u une protection cathodique. \u00ab\u00a0Si l&#8217;on veut vraiment arr\u00eater la corrosion, on doit opter pour une protection cathodique avec un courant impos\u00e9. Nous avons test\u00e9 cette technique un an avant le d\u00e9but des travaux sur un montage d&#8217;essai. Le test a d\u00e9montr\u00e9 que le syst\u00e8me que nous avons d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 pour ce b\u00e2timent est non seulement efficace, mais aussi durable dans le temps. Nous avons \u00e9quip\u00e9 l&#8217;enveloppe ext\u00e9rieure d&#8217;anodes de zinc afin d&#8217;assurer une protection maximale de l&#8217;armature\u00a0\u00bb, explique Jan Kriekemans.\n<h2><strong>Le renforcement du b\u00e9ton<\/strong><\/h2>\n\u00ab\u00a0Nous avons \u00e9galement utilis\u00e9 des armatures coll\u00e9es \u00e0 certains endroits pour renforcer des \u00e9l\u00e9ments ou des structures en b\u00e9ton. Pour le reste, nous avons install\u00e9 un nouveau toit, int\u00e9gr\u00e9 deux puits de lumi\u00e8re (y compris sur une partie de la construction m\u00e9tallique), effectu\u00e9 des travaux \u00e9lectriques, renforc\u00e9 les fondations, install\u00e9 quelques nouvelles fen\u00eatres et portes, etc. Malgr\u00e9 toutes ces interventions, le pass\u00e9 minier sera toujours bien visible dans ce chevalement r\u00e9nov\u00e9, qui conservera en grande partie une structure ouverte.\u00a0\u00bb\n\n<span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">Note : les photos ont \u00e9t\u00e9 prises avant la crise du coronavirus.
